Whilst the work and action undertaken by nurses and female staff in the French Red Cross during the First World War are partly known thanks to testimonies and memoirs of the war, the costume that served their renown somewhat failed to arouse the curiosity of collectors and historians alike.
It is in an attempt to fill this century-old gap that we have decided to present and to detail - for the very first time - the effects that accompanied those who were known as the ‘white ladies’ throughout the Great War.
